Pokédex: I have no idea what this thing does. Come on cap kid, where's your unnecessary anime exposition? Maybe I'm the unnecessary exposition.
Pokéballs: Magic animal transportation, I guess. It looks like it beats a carrier. You can see through the top. They come in different colors. [A sketch of a heavy ball is included.]
Pokémon Center Machine: You put the balls on this machine and they just heal the magic animals. That's convenient.
Silph Scope: What the hell do these do?
Gym badges: From gym leaders. I'm not completely sure what gym leaders are, other than important.
Plates: I have no idea what these are, but they sound really important.

Terms
Type: Sneasel is a... Dark type, I guess? How many are there? Water, Fire, Electric, Air, Light...? Looks like attacks have types too.
Evolution: what they call them changing forms. Apparently you can do that through trade? I feel like I'm missing something.
Pokémon: That's what all the weird magic animals are called.

Locations

Kanto: like the Kanto region in Japan?
Johto: where the hell is this?
Ecruteak City: Something happened here. The wrecked city, I think.
Lake of Rage: That has to be the place with all the Gyarados.
