Name: Silver
Age: 16
Canon: Pokémon Special
History: Allow me to give a lovingly detailed description of his hist- just kidding
Canon Point: His initial canon point will be early-HGSS, as he's flying to the Safari Zone to find Lance, and his real canonpoint will be post-HGSS, after all the cool stuff happens.
Memories:
-Fuck Petrel Pt 1: After being attacked by a bunch of Koffing, Silver heads off to the Safari Zone to go find the plot and finds... A bunch of Koffing. Turns out that Petrel beat the snot out of Lance and is after these things called "plates". Fuck that guy, right?
-Learning Nothing: Silver runs into Crys, who decides to help out with the massive Team Rocket problem. Silver tries to argue, but Crys tells him very clearly that other people have reasons to take out Team Rocket and that he shouldn't try to do things by himself. ...In the very same chapter, he goes off to do things by himself.
-Fetch Quest: After several gym leaders worth of obstacles, Silver manages to get to Morty to learn more about the plot just in time for Arceus to blow up the entire gym. When he manages to wake up, he gets right back to work, and goes to find all of Arceus' plates with the help of his Weavile family within a few days. After finishing up, he picks up a beat up Crys on the way to the plot.
-Villainous Monologue: Holy shit, Arceus sucked everyone into another dimension. Here, with the help of a couple of stupid decisons, Arceus is brought onto a huge stage to be dramatic, beat the absolute snot out of everyone, and announce his master villainous plan: to... round up a bunch of gods so Giovanni will call him back. Yikes.
-Fuck Petrel Pt 2: Petrel's learned that Silver is Giovanni's son, so it's time to hatch a convoluted plan that boils down to "maybe if I beat the shit out of him and poison his entire face, his dad will love me." It doesn't work out, and Silver, enraged, goes off to fly in God's face, because this is supposed to accomplish something like buying time for some cool finishing move set-up... Or something, as if any of this is supposed to work.
-Exposition Hour: Despite all odds, operation fly into Arceus' face worked, and Arceus is whole again! ...Except Arceus is also super pissed at humanity, Pryce, Lance, and Giovanni are here, and we are getting so many reveals of people being related or alive that aren't going to matter in five panels because it's time to explain exactly how fucked our odds are. Everyone jumps into action to fight to stop the world from ending, Giovanni ends up collapsing from his soap opera disease, and there's a touching moment before going back to trying to stop the world from ending.
-This Doesn't Even Qualify You For Dad Of The Year: The day is saved! Thanks Gold. And Giovanni is saved through the power of Celebi ex machina! Thanks again, Celebi! After admitting that karma was out to get him for being evil, Giovanni gets up... and immediately decides to continue being evil because man being evil is great. He offers Silver a place in Team Rocket, but he declines with a little dramatic moment on how he's going to turn his dad to the good side. Good luck, Silver.
-Epilogue: Time passes, there's exactly two weeks before their juniors from hoenn ask them to help beat up meteors from over in Johto since the damn world's about to end again, but from there on out, all is good for now, and he's free to monopolize Gold's couch to watch his damn saturday morning cartoons.
Material Regains:
-Weavile's Pokéball: A strange, round, red and white container that's somewhat transparent. Weavile included.
-Honchkrow's Pokéball: A strange, round, red and white container that's somewhat transparent. Honchkrow included.
-Pokédex: A high tech encyclopedia that records information on Pokémon.
-Secrets of The Land: An ordinary book that holds a vast wealth of information on ground-type Pokémon.
-Tamato Berry: These berries look like ordinary tomatoes, but covered in spines. WARNING: Incredibly spicy, be careful to avoid getting the juices in your eyes. (Renewable)
Basic alignment: He's pretty firmly chaotic good. As a Pokédex Holder, his entire gig is to protect people and Pokémon alike from all kinds of dangers and generally do heroic things and save the day. However, he's also a pretty firm believer in "the ends justify the means." Sometimes the ends involve stealing, other times you listen to the guy that just tried committing genocide, and sometimes they involve leaving an old man to fall apart in the time stream, and that's okay- he's not cruel, and he'd be reluctant to kill someone, but he's not the type that couldn't possibly imagine doing such a thing, either.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
✔ In a tough situation, Silver's pretty good at keeping a level head. It's difficult to rattle him, and even when he is uncomfortable, he can generally still keep it together and use his head. He's calm, cool, collected, and knows how to think several steps ahead, at least when it comes to serious situations like combat or "johto man tries destroying the world".
✘ When Silver does finally lose his cool, however, he completely loses his cool- if something sets him off, he's prone to... Acting like a giant dumbass, really, and lashing our or making rash decisions on the fly. Luckily, his anger usually only lasts for short bursts. He is fairly easy to provoke, however, especially when it comes to something that slights or endangers his friends, let alone his sister. To top it off, his self preservation is absolutely awful, so acting recklessly often means putting himself in danger.
✘ He has absolutely no idea how to handle social situations whatsoever. The part of Silver's life that wasn't spent being conditioned into being a tool by the Masked Man was spent going after one goal or another, not to mention that he grew up with a bunch of Sneasel and Weavile instead of people. What little social skills he has, he learned from Blue, but he mostly keeps quiet and remains pretty awkward around other people... When he's not blundering his way through conversations entirely. He's also not very expressive, but makes up for the lack of expression or tone with body language. He's more comfortable opening up to Pokémon- especially his Pokémon- than his peers.
✘ Silver doesn't necessarily distrust people on principle, but it's very difficult to get him to actually trust and open up to people. His childhood didn't lend well to putting his trust in other people, and he's reluctant to open up to or rely on others. He'll care about someone long before he actually opens up and trusts them. Conversely, when he does finally trust people (like his best friends Gold and Crys,) that trust tends to be blind to the point of stupidity. One he's decided he likes and trust someone, he'll follow them without question with very few exceptions.
✔/✘ Silver is driven. Once he decides on a goal, he dedicates himself to it, regardless of any perceived difficulty or conflicting personal interest. He can be extremely passionate and stubborn about anything he sets his mind to, and failing doesn't deter him at all; he's persistent and keeps getting back up again until he succeeds. He believes that the ends justify the means, and blatantly disregards the law when it comes to his own missions. He tends to be incredibly one track minded, and anything that isn't relevant to the task at hand is either forgotten or tuned out.
✔ He's compassionate and sympathizes deeply with others. His entire motivation behind wanting to stop Team Rocket and do good things with the rest of the Pokédex Holders (besides personal involvement and validation, because boy is there a lot of that,) is because he's been through enough personal suffering to not want to wish that on anyone else. He cares about others more than he's willing to let on, and he'll go out of his way to help innocent people in trouble, especially if they're caught in the crossfire between him and his enemies. Even his enemies get some sympathy; when he was hellbent on taking out the Masked Man, he held back against some of the other Masked Kids that worked for him, under the impression that they went through the same hell that he did.
✔/✘ Silver's an extremely forgiving character, possibly to a fault. Despite the fact that Pryce ripped him from his family, put him through hell for years, and effectively traumatized him in a way he still hasn't fully worked through, he accepts his help in a crisis and although a little uncomfortable around him, seems to have mostly accepted his presence when the crisis is over. His mentor Lance attempted to destroy the entire Kanto region with Lugia, and while originally Lance was probably just a means to get at his goals, Lance did end up being an extremely important figure to him. As far as Silver's concerned, what you do in the present is what really seems to matter.
✔ In the face of an absolutely shitty life, Silver holds onto a surprising amount of optimism. He does his best to make the most out of his circumstances. He's not exactly cheerful or loud about his optimism, but he's quick to quietly smile after getting through serious situations. Once the big crisis with Arceus is over, he immediately immerses himself in a new show that's coming out soon- Proteam Omega. He doesn't have a lot of time to simply enjoy himself, but it definitely looks like he at least tries to make the most of it. Even his attitude towards his dad is overly optimistic; despite his dad repeatedly saying he does evil for evil's sake and is going to continue doing exactly that, he stands firm in his resolution to get him to see the errors of his ways and do good someday.
Skills and Abilities:
-First and foremost, Silver's a Pokémon Trainer. He works very closely with his team of Pokémon and does his best to draw out their strengths. He specializes in Pokémon trading in particular, and is reasonably good at working with Pokémon he just met. Of course, he'll be in murdergame, where the moves aren't real and the trading doesn't matter, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have a few practical skills as well. Trainers generally travel and explore wherever they please, and Silver's no exception; paired with the fact that he pretty much grew up in the woods, he's got a really good set of survival skills.
-Dexterity is not a dump stat. Silver's really agile and quick on his feet, and can pull off cool stunts like backflips or hanging from ceiling lights that probably shouldn't be able to support his weight (but hey, it looks cool.) He's stronger than his absolutely twiggy self would suggest; he's not going to outmuscle any real muscley people anytime soon, but he's not going to have too much trouble carrying anyone out in the event that we have a fainting train. His real unique claim to fame, however, is that he's a pretty good thief; stealing and pickpocketing are well within his skillset, and he's usually good about not getting caught, unless he happens to be sneaking out of the same window someone's sneaking in.
Motives:
-His friends and family are immeasurably important to him, and he'd do pretty much anything to keep them safe.
-The safety of his world is also extremely important to him, and he'd do pretty much anything to keep that safe, too.
-He is absolutely the stupid dude to take one for the team if a starving motive cropped up. Generally, anything that would harm everyone is something that he'd act on, once he's gotten attached enough to the group.
-Obligatory self defense or accident goes here.
Sample: Here's his IC contact Post and here's a thread, both from Empatheias.
Plot Involvement:
Would you prefer that your character be a victim, a culprit, or do you have no preference? No strong preference, he can roll with either!
Would you like to volunteer to have your character killed off? Nope!
Would you be willing to have your character be a mole or a killswitch? Gonna pass on this one too but do you really want the guy with the shit charisma trying to be a mole I mean-
